Yes. A Taply card opens on iPhone XR, iPhone XS and every newer iPhone, and on most Android phones that support tap-to-pay, with no app to download. The iPhone 7, 8 and X can read it too after one setting is added in Control Center.

Where should you tap on the phone?
On an iPhone, tap your card to the top edge of the back, near the camera. On most Android phones, tap the middle of the back. Hold the card still for a second or two. The phone shows a notification or opens the link directly, and the person taps the notification to open your profile.
What has to be true for the tap to work?
- The phone's screen is on. An iPhone also needs to have been unlocked at least once since it was last restarted.
- The camera and Apple Pay are not open at that moment.
- Airplane mode is off on iPhone.
- On Android, the phone's contactless setting is turned on. It is on by default on most phones.
- The case is not metal or unusually thick. Most ordinary cases are fine.
What if the phone does not respond?
Move the card slowly around the back of the phone, since the reading spot is small. If nothing happens, the phone may be too old or have its contactless setting off. Every Taply profile includes a QR code that opens the same page, so Card + Profile customers can share their details either way.
Does the other person need to download anything?
No. The tap opens a normal web page in the phone's browser. From there, one more tap saves your contact. Nothing is installed, and you do not need their number to share yours.
Quick answers
Does a Taply card need a battery or charging?
No. The phone powers the chip during the tap, so the card never needs charging.
Can I test my card on my own phone?
Yes. Every card is programmed and tested before it ships, and you can tap it to your own phone the same way.
Does it work through a phone case?
Usually. Metal cases, magnetic wallets and very thick cases can block the tap.
